What are those???

Bitter Gourd. We call it ampalaya.

Pretty amazing someone got it to grow in Chicago!

It can grow almost anywhere as long as it is warm enough. It’s pretty easy to take care of. The leaves can also be eaten. I am just curious who planted it though. I thought that Americans don’t have a taste for bitter food.

Thai people call it Mara. It can be made into a really delicious broth.

it was growing in a huge garden in my neighborhood that is predominantly Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian!
